Classes
From July 31 to August 3, I had the privilege of visiting the congregations in Tita and Gimbichu. Despite difficult weather and travel conditions, the trip was filled with spiritual encouragement, biblical teaching, and fellowship with dedicated brethren. I left deeply encouraged by their love for God and His Word.

I traveled from Addis Ababa to Hosanna on Thursday, July 31. The next day, on Friday, August 1, I met briefly with the brethren at Hossana. It was a rainy day, and the season itself made travel unpredictable—but it was a good start to a spiritually charged journey. (Brother Ken, Bob, and Sister Vicky know exactly what it looks like if it rains
).
Tita Congregation Visit (August 2)- Saturday
Getting to Tita was a challenge. Though the morning looked clear, sudden heavy rain made roads nearly impassable. I used a motorbike for 15 km, then walked over 10 km through mud and rain, with some delays along the way. I was exhausted when I arrived at Tita, and sadly couldn’t bring Brother Bob’s teaching chart with me – it is heavy to carry. I arranged for someone to collect it from the hotel.
Even though I arrived late, the local preachers wonderfully led the group in Bible study and songs. I joined in and gave a short 30-minute sermon on “Serving God Despite Difficulties”, using the lives of Job and Noah as examples. Later, as the rain continued, we moved into the church building with the youth and some preachers joined, and I preached again, this time for 45 minutes, focusing on Noah’s character from Genesis 6:9 — “righteous, blameless, and walking with God.”
Over 130 people attended the meeting. I introduced Bob’s chart (which was on its way) and explained the newly translated “Bible Questions and Children Drill” booklet, thanks to Brother Antoine’s generous sharing. The reception was joyful and inspiring.
Afterward, we walked nearly three hours through slippery, muddy roads. One preacher accompanied me as we made our way to Gimbichu—through rain, narrow forest paths, and darkness with the help of flashlights. We arrived at 8:40 PM, soaked and tired, but grateful to be warmly welcomed by the brethren. (I have shared the pictures with some of you- please kindly check)
Gimbichu Congregation (August 3)- Sunday
The next morning, we worshiped with the Gimbichu church ( Brother Ken and sister Vicky visited there in the April 6 trip). They usually begin Sunday service early—8:00 AM—so they can finish by 10:30 AM. This is an established tradition spanning decades.
To my delight, Bob’s teaching chart had already arrived and was hung in the building. Everyone was gathered around it, taking pictures and studying it joyfully. I also handed over a copy of the translated Bible questions and Children’s Drill booklet and gave a short explanation on how to use both tools effectively.
I preached again on “Serving God Despite Difficulties “, focusing on Job 1 & 2—how God viewed Job- “a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil” and the sharp contrast with the character of Satan: deceiver, accuser, liar, and hater. The message was well received by the congregation of over 100 members. They were engaged and blessed, and they extend their gratitude to:
- Brother Bob – for the excellent chart
- Brother Antoine – for the children’s material
- Brother Ken and Sister Vicky – for their ongoing love and prayers
A special note to Sister Vicky: The women and children here were hoping to study with you again. As you remember, it was a weekday when we went there, many missed the chance—but they made it clear: they want you to come again. They’re praying and waiting for this to happen.
I finally returned to Addis Ababa safely on August 4 and met with my family.
In conclusion, this trip reminded me of the power of perseverance and faith. Despite the mud, storms, and difficulties, God’s people gathered, worshiped, and were eager to grow. I was humbled by their devotion and thankful for every supporter who makes this work possible. I promised to do more trips like this and help them grow their understanding of the word. They also expressed that they want you to visit and teach the Word of God. I also hope you consider this and start planning from there.
Psalm 100:2 “Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing”.
1st Cor 15:58.”Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
Thank you so much for everything, and I look forward to our continued fellowship and partnership.
In Love,
Frehaileab Admasu
